Cables Interfacing to LCD Panels

Cables Interfacing to LCD Panels Cables interfacing to LCD panels are designed to the customer's specified lengths interconnecting between the display and the SBC, controller or LVDS driver.

Assemblies can be designed with the following constructions:

  • Discrete wire
  • Discrete wire with twisted pairs
  • Ribbon cable
  • Shielded and jacketed cable

Custom Cable Assemblies for Touch Screen and Backlight Extension Cables

Custom Touch Screen and Backlight Extension Cables Custom extension cables are available for all backlight and inverter connectors where an extension is required from the LCD backlight lead to the output of the inverter.

For custom cable assemblies a standard UL 3239 AWG 24(7) 3KV high voltage wire is used.

Additionally, Quadrangle Products designs custom cable assemblies for virtually all touch screen interfaces.

FFC Cables (Flat Flex Conductor cables)

Flat Flex Conductor Cables (FFC) FFC cables are frequently used to interface LCDs to SBCs and/or controllers equipped with ZIF (zero insertion force) and LIF (low insertion force) connectors. Typically, the connectors supplied on the LCD have a pitch of 0.5mm and a conductor count ranging from 10 to 50.

Quadrangle Products stocks all these FFC Cable types:

  • 0.5mm FFC Cables in standard lengths of 3.00", 6.00", 9.00" and 12.00" with conductors numbering 10 to 50.
  • FFC Cables are available in both tin plated and gold over nickel plated conductors.
  • Over 250,000 FFC Cables with non-standard lengths in 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.00mm and 1.25mm pitch with conductor counts ranging from 8 to 50. Lengths vary from 1.5" to 18.00".
  • Delivery of all FFC Cable prototypes up to several hundred is typically within 3-5 days.

FFC/FPC to Round Wire Conversion

FFC/FPC to Round Wire Conversion For applications requiring a FFC/FPC to non-FFC connector conversion, Quadrangle Products' FFC/FPC to round wire transition provides the solution.

These adapters are available in 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 1.00mm and 1.25mm pitch with conductor widths varying from 10 to 50. This allows the LCD to be driven by a SBC and/or controller not having the same connector as on the display.

FPDI-1 Cables (VESA type)

FPDI-1 Cables (VESA type) We stock a variety of cables that interface to the DF9 board-to-board connector series in conformance with VESA's FPDI-1 standard.

FPDI-1 cable products convert from the DF9 to either wire or FFC, allowing for direct termination to wire and/or ZIF connectors.
