Optical Imaging Touch Screen

Omnidisplays optical imaging technology

Omnidisplays optical imaging technology is both streamlined and simple. Optical Imaging uses scanning optical cameras to sense a 2-dimensional 'field' which, when interrupted by a touch, uses sophisticated algorithms to return a point co-ordinate.

Optical imaging technology revolutionizes the way we interface with computer technology. Since Optical imaging uses no surface coating it doesn't degrade the image quality in any way. This also means surface scratches and contamination will not affect the touchscreen performance. OI provides touch sensitivity to the entire screen, corners included, and accuracy is guaranteed. OI requires only one calibration because there is no drift with optical imaging technology.

FEATURES

Plug-and-Play
OmniDisplays new touch solutions do not require special software drivers; they incorporate HID compliant USB plug-and-play interfaces.

High Clarity of Image
This technology uses optical components. No surface coatings are used on the screens - hence images are kept crystal clear.

Light Touch
Any method can be used to touch the screen: a finger, a gloved hand or any pointer. Only a light touch is required.

Whole Screen Coverage
Optical imaging technology provides touch sensitivity over the whole screen, including the corners. With over 400,000 touch points, accuracy is guaranteed.

Once-only Calibration
Optical imaging technology touchscreens are calibrated just once at commissioning time. The technology provides continuous operation with no drift, no need to recalibrate.

Robust
Because optical imaging technology solutions don't employ surface coatings, the customer-facing screen is not affected by scratches or contamination. Also, the products can be easily sealed for resistance to dirt, dust and moisture, making them ideal for demanding public environments. OI’s touchscreen system is modular so that component parts can be replaced in the event of failure or damage.

Additional Functionality
Provides two-touch capability (reading two touch points at one time), middle mouse-key scrolling and object size recognition. Diagnostic utilities are also available.

Acoustic Pulse Recognition Touch Technology

Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) touchscreens use a completely new and unique way of sensing touches on a display. Consisting only of a glass overlay mounted in front of the display, together with a small electronic controller board, Elo's APR technology provides a new set of benefits that have only been partially achieved before by other touch technologies. APR combines the ultimate in optical qualities, durability, and stability, with excellent dragging properties, along with stylus, glove and fingernail activation, and low cost advantages. In addition, it is resistant to water and other contaminants on the screen, can be scaled from PDA to 42-inch displays, and provides palm rejection during signature capture.
